Contemporary and chicThe sleek and contemporary home interior is followed through into the garden. So here we used blocks of colour, clean sharp lines of walls, porcelain terrace and wicker furniture. These features are offset by green architectural planting and plenty of flowers. The clients children wanted a play garden so artificial grass was used – natural to look at, robust and low maintenance and with no need for watering. |
Geometry and colourGeometry is key in this Chelsea garden. Since the Italian clients wished for an unusual colour palette,we decided to experiment. So we used lemon and aubergine against green and soft grey. Rectangles, triangles, circles and diagonals all help to create movement in a small terraced garden with high walls. Additionally, the central three piece sculpture provides trickling water into a small pool. |
Architectural and inspiringCutting edge architecture in the shape of a glass box conservatory lies at the back of this Victorian house in Wandsworth Common. So this feature lends itself to the modern plants and style of the garden. Here the contemporary aged metal pergola and sleek timber screening set off architectural foliage. Clipped evergreen domes and soft grasses and daffodils. Also blocks of blue ceanothus flank a stunning charcoal elliptical pot with olive.
