Roof garden

Bronze pots with wind tolerant architectural plants decorate the roof patio garden of this Balham home. These colours and textures are pulled together by the painted ‘lichen’ coloured walls of the balcony.

Escallonia and box are soft evergreens and escallonia was chosen as it repeats flowers and is tolerant of exposed windy sites. The widths of deck boards are designed to match the proportions of the railings.

Carefully selected planters of graphite, ivory and tan contain perfect box cubes set amongst charcoal polished rounded pebbles. The contrasting textures and colours of foliage, fibreglass planters and pebbles make for a simple but stimulating look.
